Choose by task · Paint correction

A better polishing setup starts with the result you want.

Refreshing gloss and correcting substantial defects are different jobs. Choose the machine, pad and liquid as a system, test a small area, and inspect the result before committing to the whole vehicle.

Start with your question

Do you need correction, refinement or protection?

For a gloss refresh, compare a matched polishing pad and SONAX Perfect Finish. For heavier correction, explore cutting compounds and test the complete combination before working across the car.

I want a gloss refresh. Do I need heavy cut?

Not automatically. Evaluate an appropriate polishing combination for the actual paint and defects. Heavy-cut products remove more material and are not the default answer to every dull-looking surface.

How do I match a pad with my machine?

Check the machine type, backing plate, pad backing dimensions and the manufacturer's system recommendations. Pad colors are not universal; rotary and orbital products are not automatically interchangeable.

Is polishing necessary before every protection product?

No. Decide whether the paint needs or would benefit from correction. Cleaning and appropriate preparation still matter, but do not remove paint simply because you bought a sealant.

Your next steps

Test first. Inspect. Then repeat consistently.

Choose your supplies, prepare the work area and follow the selected product’s instructions. Use the steps below to plan the job.

  1. Clean and assess the paint

Wash and appropriately decontaminate before polishing. Evaluate the finish, existing damage and your experience. Matte finishes or uncertain paint history need specific guidance rather than a generic polishing recipe.

  2. Test one suitable combination

Use a compatible machine, pad and liquid on a small area following the equipment instructions. Inspect correction and finish before changing to a more aggressive combination.

  3. Manage pads and refine where needed

Clean or change loaded pads, inspect as you work and refine haze only when necessary. Complete the selected protection product's preparation before applying it.

A few useful answers.

Can you help me put together a machine-and-pad order?

Yes. Include the machine model, backing-plate size, products already owned and your intended job. Parts can help compare the catalog's compatible options.

Does buying polishing equipment include detailing service?

No. These are supplies and equipment for purchase. An equipment order is not an appointment for paint correction or a guarantee of a particular result.
