Separate towels by their job and residue before laundry. Keep grit-heavy or dressing-loaded items out of the clean-paint group, and check each towel's care label.
Follow both detergent and towel directions. Avoid softener, dryer sheets and bleach; use the recommended drying conditions rather than high heat. Treat coatings or hazardous residues according to their own handling instructions.
Check for remaining grit, hardened spots and rough fibers. Store acceptable towels clean, dry and protected from shop dust, separated by task. Do not return a doubtful towel to paint work just because it looks washed.
